Kurdistan Region Deputy PM meets his Greek Counterpart.

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with Kostis Hatzidakis, Deputy Prime Minister of Greece, on the sidelines of the Delphi International Economic Forum.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the regional situation and the impact of the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran. Qubad Talabani stressed that the Kurdistan Region and Iraq do not wish to become part of the conflict, emphasising a commitment to neutrality while supporting efforts to resolve tensions.

They also highlighted the importance of the Delphi International Economic Forum, noting its role in strengthening ties between Greece and the Kurdistan Region, as well as introducing companies, entrepreneurs and major investors to investment opportunities in Kurdistan.

In this context, discussions were held on organising the second Delphi International Economic Forum in Sulaymaniyah later this year. Qubad Talabani formally invited the Greek Deputy Prime Minister to attend the event.

The meeting further underlined the need to expand cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Greece in the fields of trade, tourism, healthcare and agriculture. At Qubad Talabani’s request, Kostis Hatzidakis pledged to work towards launching direct flights between Sulaymaniyah and Athens, describing it as an important step in strengthening economic relations between the two sides.
