Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with Greece’s Health Minister, Adonis Georgiadis, during the second day of his participation in the Delphi Economic Forum, where the two sides discussed strengthening coordination between their respective health sectors.

During the meeting, held on Thursday (23 April 2026), Talabani highlighted the progress made in the Kurdistan Region’s healthcare sector in recent years. He called for greater cooperation from Greece to further develop the sector, particularly by benefiting from Greece’s extensive experience in healthcare.

Both sides explored mechanisms for enhancing coordination and collaboration between their health systems. As part of these efforts, Talabani invited Georgiadis to visit the Kurdistan Region. The Greek minister welcomed the invitation, confirming that he plans to visit in the near future with an official delegation.

It was agreed that the visit would focus on establishing stronger ties and cooperation in healthcare, with particular emphasis on advancing the pharmaceutical industry and utilising artificial intelligence to improve medical services.

The meeting also underscored the importance of investing in medical tourism in the Kurdistan Region. Officials noted that, with a structured long-term plan, the Region has the potential to attract significant numbers of medical tourists from across Iraq and neighbouring countries, with Greece expected to play a supportive role in this effort.
