Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nadia Murad was received at the Élysée Palace in Paris by French President Emmanuel Macron, in recognition of her ongoing humanitarian work and advocacy for victims of conflict-related sexual violence.

During the meeting, Murad was honoured for her continued efforts to seek justice for survivors of atrocities committed by ISIS, as well as her work in raising international awareness of human rights violations and supporting affected communities.

Murad expressed her gratitude to France for its sustained support, noting the country’s role in promoting accountability and standing with survivors. She emphasised that such recognition represents not only her personal journey, but also the broader struggle of survivors seeking justice and dignity.

President Macron praised Murad’s courage and determination, highlighting her role in exposing crimes committed by ISIS and in advocating for victims on the global stage. He underlined that her activism has contributed to strengthening international efforts aimed at accountability and the prevention of conflict-related violence.

Nadia Murad, a Yazidi survivor from Iraq, is internationally recognised for her advocacy work and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for her efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.
