Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani has announced the launch of a comprehensive road rehabilitation campaign in and around Sulaymaniyah city during a meeting with the three relevant directorates responsible for the municipality, roads and road maintenance.
During the meeting, held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, the condition of roads in and around Sulaymaniyah was reviewed. Many of these roads had been damaged by the rainy season and other factors, causing disruption and difficulties for residents.
Following discussions on the proposals and plans presented, Deputy PM Talabani announced that a major road rehabilitation campaign will begin soon and will be implemented in three phases. The first phase will focus on maintenance within Sulaymaniyah city, the second on rehabilitating roads outside the city, and the third will involve implementing previously approved projects to construct new streets.
To facilitate and accelerate the campaign, a dedicated section will be added to the services portal starting next week. This will allow residents to report road damage, enabling specialised teams to respond quickly and begin maintenance and reconstruction work.
