Coordination Framework Backs Security Council Decision

Coordination Framework meeting.
The Coordination Framework has reiterated its backing for the National Security Council’s decision permitting Iraqi security forces to act in self-defence.
In a statement, the group said it convened its 166th emergency meeting at the Government Palace to review developments across Iraq and the wider region, with the attendance of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the head of the Popular Mobilisation Forces.
The Framework condemned the repeated attacks on the Popular Mobilisation Forces, describing them as a clear breach of Iraq’s sovereignty, and reaffirmed its support for the National Security Council’s decision authorising Iraqi forces to defend themselves.
It further denounced the targeting of key infrastructure, state institutions and diplomatic missions, stressing the need to identify those responsible and pursue legal action against them.
The statement added that the Framework expressed solidarity with the people of Iran and Lebanon, calling for this support to be reflected through public activities and humanitarian initiatives. It also underscored the importance of adhering to constitutional processes in managing national decisions, while emphasising that matters of war and peace remain the exclusive responsibility of the state.
