Iraqi Airways has announced the completion of its airlift operation with the eighth and final flight repatriating 1,165 Iraqis stranded abroad due to airspace closer amid regional tensions.

In a statement, the airline said, "The final flight of our airlift operation, dedicated to repatriating Iraqi citizens stranded abroad, departed from New Delhi Airport and landed at Arar Airport, concluding one of the most significant and exceptional repatriation operations undertaken recently."

The company's Director General, Munaf Abdul-Munim Ajil, explained that the operation, which began on 15 March, involved eight consecutive flights transporting 1,165 Iraqi citizens. He noted that the mission was part of a well-organised plan overseen by Minister of Transport Khalid Shwani and executed through close coordination with Iraqi embassies in Cairo, New Delhi, and Riyadh, as well as other supporting entities.

Ajil added, "The success of this air bridge reflects the readiness of our fleet and highlights the efficiency of Iraqi Airways personnel in fulfilling their national and humanitarian duty. We extend our gratitude to all air and ground crews who contributed to the success of this mission."
