The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority has announced the extension of the country’s airspace closure for a further 72 hours, citing ongoing security concerns and regional developments.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Authority confirmed that all inbound, outbound and transit flights will remain suspended from 12:00 pm on 19 March 2026 (09:00 UTC) until 12:00 pm on Sunday. The measure has been introduced as a temporary precaution amid heightened instability in the region.

Officials said the decision was based on continued assessments of the security situation, with authorities closely monitoring developments that could affect the safety of air travel.

The Civil Aviation Authority stressed that the situation remains under review and that the closure could be adjusted depending on how events unfold in the coming days.
