The Iraqi Presidency has reaffirmed its commitment to national unity, calling on all political actors to prioritise the country’s interests and avoid divisions amid ongoing challenges.
In a statement issued in light of what it described as “sensitive circumstances” facing Iraq, the Presidency stressed the importance of cohesion and solidarity among all Iraqis, warning against secondary disputes that do not serve the public interest.
The statement underscored that securing a sustainable solution for the export of Iraqi oil remains a key national priority. In this context, the Presidency urged both the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to engage in constructive cooperation to resume crude oil exports and address outstanding issues in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
It also welcomed recent positive steps taken by Baghdad and Erbil, expressing hope that these efforts would continue and contribute to resolving the issue, strengthening economic stability, and serving the interests of citizens across the country.
The Presidency further called on the Iraqi parliament to act with a strong sense of national responsibility, placing the country’s interests above all other considerations and avoiding political disputes.
Highlighting the principles of Iraq’s federal system, the statement emphasised the need for unity and cooperation among all authorities and components, urging all parties to demonstrate responsibility, enhance mutual understanding, and refrain from escalation.
