International Conference on the New Revolution in South Kurdistan to Be Held in Sulaymaniyah

The College of Humanities at the University of Sulaymaniyah, in cooperation with the General Studies Centre of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), will organise an international conference on the New Revolution in South Kurdistan (1976–1991) on 20–21 October 2026.

Held under the theme “The New Revolution Turned the Impossible Into a Reality,” the conference aims to provide a new academic reading of the origins, sovereignty and objectives of the revolution.

The event will also offer an opportunity for local and international researchers and academics to exchange ideas and encourage university professors and scholars to examine different aspects of the revolution, including its historical, philosophical, social and geographical dimensions.

According to the organisers, the call for abstracts will open on 11 March 2026 and continue until 1 May 2026.

Researchers whose abstracts are accepted will be invited to submit their full papers between 11 May and 11 August 2026, while final decisions on approved papers will be announced on 12 September 2026.

The conference will be held at the Congress Hall of the University of Sulaymaniyah on 20–21 October 2026.
