PUK President to Women: I Stand with You and Support You

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), marked International Women’s Day (IWD) by reaffirming the party’s commitment to expanding women’s participation in decision-making, leadership, and positions of authority.

In his message for the occasion, the PUK President stated:

"On International Women’s Day, I warmly congratulate the women of Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world. I wish them safety and prosperity, and I pay tribute to the role, standing, and contributions of those women who have made sacrifices in the pursuit of their rights and equality.

Eliminating discrimination, preventing violence, and achieving social justice is a shared responsibility. We must move beyond mere slogans and take concrete action to ensure a better life for the courageous women of Kurdistan, defending their rights and freedoms.

At the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, we consider it our duty to broaden women’s participation in decision-making, centres of power, and management. As always, I want to tell women that I stand with you and support you."
