The Iraqi Parliament has announced that it will convene a session early next week to address the latest security developments in Iraq and the wider region, amid intensifying regional tensions.

In a statement issued by its media office and reported by PUKMEDIA, Parliament confirmed that the session scheduled for 7 March 2026 will focus exclusively on the country’s security situation and its regional repercussions. The meeting is due to begin at 9:00 p.m. and will be attended by senior security officials and relevant leadership figures.

According to the statement, lawmakers will assess the domestic impact of ongoing regional confrontations and review precautionary measures aimed at safeguarding stability within Iraq.

The session comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions following the United States–Israeli strike on Iran on 28 February 2026 and the subsequent large-scale Iranian response. Exchanges between the sides continue, with no clear indication of de-escalation, raising concerns over potential spillover effects across the region.
