Iraq closes airspace.

The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announced on Sunday the extension of the closure of Iraqi airspace for a further 24 hours in light of ongoing regional developments.

In a statement obtained by PUKMEDIA, the Authority said: “The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announces the extension of the closure of Iraqi airspace to all arriving, departing and transiting aircraft for 24 hours, starting at 12:00 pm today (9:00 am UTC) until 12:00 pm tomorrow as a temporary and precautionary measure.”

The statement added that the decision was taken following a continuous assessment of the security situation and in response to regional tensions, after a comprehensive review of relevant data. It noted that the measure would be reassessed in light of any further developments.

The Authority also confirmed that airlines and relevant bodies would be informed of any updates issued in this regard.
