Kurdistan VP Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa greeting Japanese office at the Japan National Day ceremony.

On 9 February 2004, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, attended a reception marking the 66th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and the National Day of Japan. The event was organised by the Japanese Consulate in Erbil.

During the ceremony, the Vice President extended his congratulations to the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq and to the Japanese Consul in the Kurdistan Region. He reaffirmed the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing co-operation between Japan and the Kurdistan Region across areas of mutual interest.
