Saudi Delegation Discusses Investment Opportunities in Sulaymaniyah with Qubad Talabani

KRG Deputy PM Qubad Talabani's meeting with Saudi investors.

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received a Saudi business delegation led by Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Asiri, the Saudi Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, to discuss ways to enhance economic relations between the two sides.

The meeting, held on Saturday, 7 February 2026, in Sulaymaniyah, focused on investment opportunities and cooperation. Deputy PM Talabani highlighted the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) efforts to promote development and its policy of supporting and facilitating foreign investment.

He stated that there are significant opportunities for Saudi investors in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in Sulaymaniyah province, expressing both his and the local administration’s readiness to provide all necessary support and facilities.

The discussion also addressed the vital role of the private sector in the Kurdistan Region’s, as well as Sulaymaniyah's economy, noting that the private sector has grown considerably in recent years and now plays a key role in driving economic development.

Both sides agreed to work towards strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of Kurdistan and Saudi Arabia, with the aim of further enhancing economic and trade relations in the future.
