PUK President Discusses Iraqi Presidency with British Ambassador

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, at the former residence of President Mam Jalal in Baghdad.

The meeting, attended by PUK Political Bureau members Qubad Talabani and Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, addressed the latest developments in Iraq and the wider region, with an emphasis on the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions to ongoing conflicts.

On the formation of the new Iraqi government, President Bafel said that the PUK is working towards the establishment of a national, service-oriented government capable of meeting the aspirations of the Iraqi people.

He also underlined the need to adhere to constitutional timelines, particularly with regard to completing the required procedures and electing the President of the Republic, noting that a request has been made for the Iraqi parliament to convene a session on the matter next Sunday.
