Peshmerga Minister Urges Coalition Support to Address Attacks on Rojava

Peshmerga Minister and Acting Commander of Coalition Forces in the Kurdistan Region.

Shoresh Ismail, Minister of Peshmerga, welcomed Colonel Fitz Gerald, Acting Commander of Coalition Forces in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed the current situation in the region, the complex situation in Western Kurdistan (Rojava), and the ongoing crisis in Syria. Minister Ismail conveyed the Peshmerga’s deep concern to the Coalition Forces regarding attacks and assaults by the Syrian army against the Kurds in Rojava. He emphasised that the Coalition Forces should play an important role in stabilising the situation in Syria and that efforts should focus on resolving problems through understanding and dialogue.

The discussion also covered the reform process, the establishment of administrations and their authorities, and several issues specific to the Peshmerga forces.

Colonel Fitz Gerald stated that the Coalition Forces are monitoring the events and are making efforts through various channels to stabilise the situation in Syria.
