Rebwar Taha, Governor of Kirkuk and a successful candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in the Iraqi parliamentary elections, has officially submitted his resignation from the Iraqi parliament.

Taha formally submitted his resignation to the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), relinquishing his parliamentary seat in order to continue his duties as Governor of Kirkuk.

Meanwhile, Halo Qadir is scheduled to be sworn in as a member of the Iraqi Parliament on 29 December 2025, replacing Rebwar Taha.

Rebwar Taha, who stood as a PUK candidate in Iraq's sixth parliamentary term, secured 96,000 votes in the elections, the highest number among all other candidates.
