Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid has extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to Christians in Iraq, and to Christians around the world, on the occasion of Christmas.

In a statement, President Rashid said:

“On the occasion of Christmas, we extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to our Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq, and to Christians around the world. As we share in their joy on this blessed occasion, we reaffirm our pride in their integral role in the history and present of our nation, and in their national, cultural and civilisational contributions.

Let us draw inspiration from the birth of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), embracing the values and teachings of faith, humanity and divine mission — both as individuals and as political forces — to build our country, advance its development, and safeguard its security and stability.

We hope that peace, tranquillity, love and harmony will prevail throughout Iraq and across the world.”
