Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, Mohammed Al-Hassan, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General in Iraq, on the occasion of the completion of his mandate.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Presidency, President Rashid commended Al-Hassan for the significant efforts undertaken during his tenure, praising the United Nations mission’s support for Iraq’s political and democratic processes, as well as its contributions to strengthening security and stability across the country.

He emphasised that the conclusion of the mission’s mandate marks the beginning of a new phase of partnership, with Iraq and the United Nations continuing to work in close coordination toward shared goals.

The President also extended his best wishes to Al-Hassan, expressing hope for continued success in his future assignments.

For his part, Al-Hassan expressed his appreciation to President Rashid for his sustained support of the UN mission and for his role in advancing cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations across a range of fields.
