PUK Politburo Reaffirms Commitment to Christian Rights and Freedoms

The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has extended its warm congratulations to Christians in Kurdistan and Iraq, and to Christians around the world, on the occasion of Christmas.

In a statement, the PUK Political Bureau said: “On the occasion of Christmas, we warmly congratulate our Christian brothers and sisters in Kurdistan and Iraq in particular, and across the world in general.”

The statement added: “We hope that this occasion will further strengthen the values of peace, tolerance and love that are shared by the heavenly religions.”

It also emphasised that Christians are an indigenous and integral part of the history of Kurdistan’s political and social movements, praising their role in promoting peaceful coexistence in our country.

“On this occasion, as always, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of Christians and all communities in Kurdistan,” the statement concluded.
