Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, issued a congratulatory message to the Yazidi community on the occasion of the Ezid Day or Îda Êzî, reaffirming that the Yazidis are an indigenous, ancient, and inseparable part of the country, noting that the holiday represents an important opportunity to reaffirm the spirit of unity and religious coexistence that have long been a source of pride.

Deputy PM Talabani's message said:

"On the occasion of the Ezid Day holiday, I extend my warmest congratulations to all Yazidi brothers and sisters in Kurdistan and across the world.

The Yazidis are an indigenous, ancient, and inseparable part of our country. This holiday provides an important opportunity to reaffirm the spirit of unity and religious coexistence that have long been a source of pride for us.

On this occasion, we reaffirm our continued support to ensure a dignified, peaceful, and stable life for all Yazidi citizens.

I wish everyone a blessed holiday, and continued happiness and prosperity."

Ezid Day, or Îda Êzî, is a major Yazidi festival honoring God (Êzî) and marking the creation of the earth, celebrated around the winter solstice, typically the first Friday on or after 14 December, following three days of compulsory fasting (Rojiyên Êzî) from sunrise to sunset, symbolising the sun's renewal and earth's beginning. It's a joyous occasion with feasting, music, dance, and family gatherings, marking the end of the fast and a turning point in the solar cycle.
