The Supreme Council of the Social Democratic Alliance in the Arab World (SDAAW) convened on 11 December 2025 at 9:15 p.m. Baghdad time via videoconference.
The meeting was chaired by Dara Khailany, Head of Foreign Relations for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and was attended by representatives of 20 political parties. The session lasted two and a half hours.
Three key issues were discussed. The first centred on the current political developments at both the regional and Arab levels. The second focused on reviewing and amending the alliance’s internal regulations to ensure they meet the needs of the coming phase.
The third topic concerned the SDAAW's Women’s Union (Shihana), with discussions aimed at finalising the outcomes of the SDAAW's Sulaymaniyah Conference, which was held last August, and activating and completing organisational roles within the Women’s Union. Participants explored options for filling these positions either through consensus among the relevant parties or through elections, in order to ensure women’s effective participation and influential presence within the Union’s structure.
