Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Sunday that the results of the parliamentary elections will be forwarded to the Federal Court for ratification within the next two days.
Imad Jamil, head of the commission’s media team, told Al-Iraqiya News that IHEC remains committed to announcing the results transparently and providing all recordings to political entities, noting that the commission had been “meticulous” throughout the process. He confirmed that none of the submitted appeals included recordings showing discrepancies with the results announced by the commission.
Jamil added that some appeals related to the seat-allocation quota system; however, the 2025 electoral law had clearly and accurately defined these mechanisms. He stressed that the commission is working to accelerate the remaining procedures and that the Board of Commissioners will send the final results to the Federal Court for ratification within the coming two days.
He also noted that Faiq Zaidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, has repeatedly emphasised the importance of expediting the ratification process.
IHEC announced the final results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections on 17 November 2025, covering both general and special voting, and opened a three-day window for appeals.
According to the official results, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) secured 18 parliamentary seats—an increase compared with previous elections—and remains the Kurdish party that has expanded its representation in the new parliament.
