Iraqi President, Italian Ambassador Discuss Boosting Bilateral Ties

Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received Niccolò Fontana, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, on Sunday, 30 November 2025, at the Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and Italy across a range of sectors. President Rashid emphasised the importance of expanding bilateral relations in the political, economic, technological and cultural fields.

Ambassador Fontana expressed his appreciation to the President and affirmed Italy’s commitment to further developing ties with Iraq, stressing his country’s readiness to open new horizons for cooperation in support of the shared interests of the two friendly nations.

The meeting also touched on regional and international developments of mutual concern, with both sides underscoring the need for continued dialogue and coordination.
