Iraqi PM holds emergency meeting.
Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, has ordered the establishment of high-level investigative and technical committees to probe the attack of the Khor Mor gas field, identify those responsible, and hold them accountable under the law.
The directive was confirmed by Sabah al-Numan, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief, in a statement received by PUKMEDIA. He condemned the attack, saying: “At a time when Iraq is striving for stability and taking its rightful place on the regional and international stage, terrorist groups are attempting to destabilise the country by carrying out a vile attack on the Khor Mor field in the Kurdistan Region last night, Wednesday.”
In response, Prime Minister al-Sudani convened an emergency meeting with the Defence and Interior Ministers and the heads of Iraq’s security services to assess the consequences of the incident.
Al-Numan stated that al-Sudani has directed “the formation of a senior investigative committee, headed by the Interior Minister and including the head of the National Intelligence Service and the Interior Minister of the Kurdistan Region, with support from the Global Coalition. A technical committee, comprising relevant authorities from the Joint Operations Command, has also been established to investigate the incident, identify those responsible and their supporters, and hold them accountable under the law.”
