IHEC Spokesperson: We Received 80 Appeals Against Parliamentary Election Results

The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Wednesday that the number of appeals submitted against the parliamentary election results has reached 80.

IHEC spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai told PUKMEDIA that, since the appeals process began on 18 November 2025, a total of 80 appeals have been received.

The IHEC had released the final results of both general and special parliamentary voting on Monday, 17 November 2025, and subsequently opened the appeals period, which will run for three days.

According to the official results, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) won 18 parliamentary seats, representing the largest increase among Kurdish parties. Preliminary results indicate that the PUK secured seats across five governorates:

Erbil: 97,411 votes

Sulaymaniyah: 241,143 votes

Kirkuk: 178,845 votes

Nineveh: 56,420 votes

Baghdad: 4,708 votes
