Deputy PM Highlights Successful Iraqi Elections and Calls for Swift Government Formation

KRG Deputy PM Qubad Talabani's meeting with Ziad Batarsa, the newly appointed Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Kurdistan Region.
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met on Monday, 17 November 2025, with Ziad Batarsa, the newly appointed Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Kurdistan Region, to discuss strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan across various fields.
During the meeting, Deputy PM Talabani highlighted the success of the recent Iraqi parliamentary elections and expressed hope that the new Iraqi government would be formed soon. He also emphasised that the priority of both the incoming Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) should be addressing the issues between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region fundamentally.
The discussions also focused on the longstanding historical relations between Kurdistan and Jordan. Both sides agreed on the importance of further developing cooperation in areas such as trade, culture, education, and higher education.
The meeting additionally addressed the establishment of the Kurdistan Film Commission, which was seen as a potential strong bridge between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan.
