The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Tuesday that voter turnout in both the general and special ballots for the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections surpassed 55%, with a total of 12,003,143 citizens casting their votes.

In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Commission reported that, after processing results from 99.7% of polling stations, 10,898,327 voters participated in the general ballot out of 20,063,773 registered voters — a turnout of over 54%.

IHEC further clarified that 1,084,289 members of the security forces and other eligible groups took part in the special vote on 9 November, representing 82.5% of the 1,313,980 registered voters for that category.

Additionally, 20,527 displaced voters cast their ballots, out of 26,538 registered, recording a turnout of 77% across all designated polling centres for displaced persons.

The Commission confirmed that, when combined, participation in both the general and special ballots reached 12,003,143 voters out of 21,404,291 registered, pushing nationwide turnout to above 55%.
