Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid cast his vote in the parliamentary elections and called upon all the people of Iraq to participate widely in the elections and choose their representatives in the upcoming parliament.

During a press conference following the vote, the President expressed his gratitude to the security forces for their vital role in maintaining stability and ensuring a safe electoral environment.

He stated: “First, we extend our thanks and appreciation to all the security forces who have exerted tremendous efforts to establish security and stability, which contributed to ensuring that the elections and the voting process were smooth and secure.”

The President also commended the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and all supporting institutions for their dedication to achieving what he described as a national democratic milestone.

He continued: “We also thank the IHEC and all supporting institutions for their significant efforts in achieving this national democratic milestone, and we hope that the elections will proceed in a democratic, fair, and transparent manner.”

President Rashid called on all Iraqis to take part in shaping the country’s future through broad participation in the elections.

“We call upon all the people of Iraq to participate widely in the elections and choose their representatives in the upcoming Council of Representatives, and we wish them success in fulfilling their duties,” he said.

Voting for Iraq’s parliamentary elections commenced at 7:00 a.m. (local time) on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, and will continue until 6:00 p.m.

A total of 20,263,773 eligible voters are casting their ballots across 18 electoral districts, with 8,703 polling centres and 39,258 polling stations operating nationwide.

Special voting for security forces and internally displaced persons (IDPs) took place on Sunday, recording a turnout of 82.48%.
