Iraqi President Meets Greek Foreign Minister, Pledges Strong Partnership

Iraqi President receives Greek Foreign Minister in Baghdad.
Iraqi President Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received the Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, along with his delegation, at Baghdad Palace on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
During the meeting, they discussed the overall regional and international situation and highlighted the importance of coordination on matters that contribute to strengthening international security and stability.
President Rashid emphasised that the two countries hold significant potential for expanding cooperation across various sectors, thereby reinforcing the values of their shared friendship. He noted that Iraq aims to broaden economic and investment ties and build effective partnerships with all parties to serve mutual interests and support development and shared progress.
For his part, the Greek Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of the President of Greece, Konstantinos Tasoulas, to the President of Iraq, expressing his country’s appreciation for Iraq’s prominent and pivotal role in the region. He also reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and developing channels of dialogue and coordination to benefit both nations and their peoples.
