US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has congratulated Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region via the Iraq–Türkiye pipeline, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Iraq in pursuit of shared interests.
According to a statement from the US State Department, Secretary Rubio spoke by phone with Prime Minister al-Sudani on Tuesday, 21 October 2025. During the conversation, they discussed the completion of US trade agreements in Iraq and the restart of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through Türkiye’s port of Ceyhan.
“The Secretary congratulated the Prime Minister on the resumption of oil exports through the Iraq–Türkiye pipeline, a development that will benefit Iraq, Türkiye, and American companies,” the statement read.
