An emergency Arab-Islamic summit is set to begin in Doha, Qatar, on Monday, 15 September 2025, to address the Israeli attack on the city last Tuesday.

According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the summit will review a draft Arab-Islamic statement regarding the assault. Iraq will be represented by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, who arrived in Doha this morning.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry said: “The convening of the Arab-Islamic summit at this time carries multiple meanings and reflects the broad Arab and Islamic solidarity with the State of Qatar in confronting the cowardly Israeli aggression, which targeted the residential headquarters of several Hamas leaders. It also signifies these countries’ categorical rejection of the state terrorism practised by Israel.”

On Sunday, a preparatory meeting of foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries was held in Doha ahead of the summit. The ministers discussed a draft statement on the Israeli attack, which will be presented to the leaders attending the summit today. In his address at the preparatory meeting, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said: “We must not remain silent or complacent regarding Israel’s aggression. The international community’s failure to hold it accountable only encourages it to continue along this path.”

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reiterated that the message of the Arab League is one of “solidarity with Qatar from the Arab and Islamic worlds,” highlighting Qatar’s vital role in mediation efforts alongside Egypt to halt the violence.

Speakers at the preparatory meeting also stressed their firm rejection of the Israeli aggression against Qatar and called on the participating leaders to take measures to deter further attacks.
