Hemn Sherdl Hawezi, a 33-year-old Kurdish-Dutch politician originally from Koya, has declared his candidacy for the upcoming Dutch parliamentary elections.
Hawezi holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration. He is currently pursuing a doctorate at Leiden University, where his research focuses on public governance and policy.
With seven years of experience as a senior adviser in the Kingdom Ministry of Home Affairs and Communications, Hawezi has overseen political and international affairs. He has also been actively involved in party politics as a board member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) in Delft and Zoetermeer for more than four years.
In the elections, Hawezi is listed as the 26th candidate on the CDA party list. His candidacy represents a notable step for the Kurdish diaspora in Europe and highlights the growing diversity of political representation in the Netherlands.
Hawezi’s campaign emphasises strengthening public governance, enhancing community engagement, and fostering inclusivity in Dutch politics. Observers say his blend of academic expertise and practical government experience positions him as a candidate to watch in the forthcoming elections.
