The spokesperson of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) reaffirmed that the party's President, Bafel Jalal Talabani, plays a pivotal role in fostering an environment conducive to media work and freedom of expression.
On Monday, 18 August 2025, PUK Spokesperson Karwan Gazneyi visited the Media Board of the PUK’s Media and Awareness Bureau, where he was received by Latif Nerwayi, head of the board, along with senior officials from the PUK’s media outlets.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among PUK's media platforms and introducing new mechanisms to communicate the party’s policies and strategies to citizens. Particular emphasis was placed on President Bafel Jalal Talabani’s vision of ensuring an open and supportive atmosphere for journalists and media professionals across the Kurdistan Region. The role of PUK media outlets in leading this effort—while upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism—was also underlined.
Participants further stressed that citizens remain the foundation of the PUK’s policies under President Bafel Jalal Talabani’s leadership. Serving the people of Kurdistan was reaffirmed as the party’s foremost priority, stressing that this principle must be reflected in every institution and activity of the organisation. The media, they noted, is the most effective channel through which this commitment can be conveyed.
