Deputy PM: Rule of Law and Strong Governance Are Key to Stability and Progress

Deputy PM Welcomes Indian CG.
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received Mr Brijesh Kumar, the newly appointed Indian Consul General to the Region, for discussions on a range of matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, held on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, Qubad Talabani congratulated the Consul General on his appointment and affirmed his office’s readiness to provide every form of support and cooperation to ensure the success of his mission, particularly in the area of youth capacity development.
Talks also addressed the system of governance and the path forward for the Kurdistan Region’s development. The Deputy Prime Minister underlined the importance of the rule of law and the strengthening of governance institutions as essential foundations for safeguarding stability and advancing nations.
Deputy PM further stressed ongoing efforts to develop and strengthen the private sector, promote the labour industry, and enhance youth capacity. He expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its consistent support to the Kurdistan Region, and called for increased initiatives to develop young people’s skills across various sectors — especially in business and technology — noting India’s extensive and successful expertise in these areas.
