Kurdistan VP Welcomes Incoming and Outgoing U.S. Consuls General.

On Wednesday, 13 August 2025, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received Gwendolyn Green, the new U.S. Consul General, and Steven Bitner, the outgoing Consul General.

During the meeting, the Vice President congratulated Ms Green on her appointment and wished her every success in her role.

He also expressed his gratitude to Mr Bitner, praising his significant contributions in strengthening and developing U.S. relations with the Kurdistan Region during his tenure.

In response, Mr Bitner thanked the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region for their support and cooperation, highlighting the importance of continuing the friendship and strong relations between the U.S. and the Kurdistan Region.
