Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held a meeting in Dabashan with the PUK’s Media and Awareness Bureau.

The meeting was attended by Rifaat Abdullah, Vice President of the PUK; Imad Ahmed, Head of the Media and Awareness Bureau; Latif Nerweyi, Head of the Media Board; and Najmaddin Faqe, Head of the Awareness Board. At the start, Imad Ahmed outlined the responsibilities, recent changes, and reorganisation within the PUK’s media, emphasising a commitment to a professional, Kurdish, and responsible media policy.

President Bafel Jalal Talabani commended the efforts and professionalism of the PUK’s media staff, recognising their dedication to their duties and their ability to communicate the PUK’s message while adhering to the national strategy and a balanced PUK-style approach. He remarked: “This is the right path that sets our media apart from others.”

Addressing the role of the PUK’s media outlets in the current phase, President Bafel highlighted recent developments and explained the media policy for this period. He stated, “The PUK's media should not be part of the problems, but rather part of the solution, while safeguarding unity and encouraging dialogue. This should be achieved through a sound and balanced policy grounded in professional media ethics. You must never be afraid to tell the truth.”

During the meeting, the PUK President also stressed the importance of developing awareness and cultural understanding across all institutions. He thanked members of the Awareness Board and urged them to concentrate on their activities, coordinate with other PUK bodies, and adapt to changing times.
