PUK President Receives UN Special Representative at Dabashan.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Dr Mohammed al-Hassan, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq.

During the meeting — also attended by Dr Jwan Ihsan and Rzgar Haji Hama, members of the Political Bureau — the latest political and security developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region were discussed.

President Bafel emphasised the importance of dialogue in resolving the ongoing salary dispute between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, underlining the necessity of adhering to the agreements.

Drone attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region were also addressed. Both parties highlighted the need to safeguard peace and stability in the country and to pursue legal measures to halt such attacks.

The meeting also touched upon the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections, with both President Bafel and Mr al-Hassan underscoring the importance of ensuring free and fair elections.
