United States' President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Israel has agreed to the terms of a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, following what he described as a “long and productive meeting” between his representatives and Israeli officials.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, President Trump said the ceasefire deal, aimed at halting the ongoing conflict, would be presented to Hamas through mediators from Qatar and Egypt, both of whom have played key roles in facilitating the negotiations.

“Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalise the 60-day ceasefire, during which time we will work with all parties to end the war,” Trump stated. He added, “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better — it will only get worse.”

The proposal comes amid intensified international pressure to bring an end to the months-long conflict in Gaza, which has caused widespread humanitarian suffering and regional instability. The US-backed plan is expected to be formally delivered to Hamas in the coming days.
