A reliable government source has confirmed that the evacuation of certain non-essential personnel from the United States Embassy is linked to broader procedural measures concerning the US diplomatic presence across the region.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency, the source addressed recent reports regarding the possible withdrawal of some embassy staff in Baghdad, stating that these actions are part of wider regional diplomatic protocols and are not specific to Iraq. He clarified that Iraqi authorities have not observed any security developments that would justify such a move.

The source further emphasised that all current security assessments and intelligence briefings point to continued stability and a strengthening of internal security. He noted that Arab and international diplomatic missions operating in Iraq continue to function freely and securely, with full access to communications and operational activities across the country—not only within the capital, Baghdad.

Meanwhile, Reuters quoted both an Iraqi security official and an American source as stating that the US Embassy in Iraq is making preparations for a potential evacuation. According to the agency, the move is believed to be in response to rising security concerns, although no further specifics were disclosed.
