Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), has requested a meeting with several prominent Kurdish political figures.

Ayşe Gül Doğan, spokesperson for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (DEM Parti), stated that Mr Öcalan had sought discussions with key leaders, including Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK); Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP); Mazloum Abdi, Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF); Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region; and Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region.

Speaking at a press conference held during the party’s Central Board meeting, Ms Doğan reiterated that Mr Öcalan had made formal requests to meet with these figures, underlining his desire to engage in political dialogue with Kurdish leaders across various regions.

She further noted, “Mr Öcalan has expressed a strong interest in engaging with representatives of different parties and influential political figures. We believe such meetings should take place without delay, as they hold the potential for significant progress and mutual benefit.”

According to the DEM Parti spokesperson, Öcalan also believes it is essential to hold talks not only with party leaders, but also with those who represent political parties in the Turkish Parliament.
