Iraqi President Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations with Armenian Counterpart

As part of his participation in the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), held in Nice, France, Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, met with his Armenian counterpart, President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
The two presidents reviewed the state of bilateral relations between Iraq and Armenia, exploring avenues to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. President Rashid highlighted the continuous growth of ties between the two countries and underscored the significant opportunities available to enhance economic collaboration and broaden partnerships, thereby contributing to the development and prosperity of both nations.
President Rashid emphasised the importance of resolving regional tensions and crises through constructive and meaningful dialogue, asserting that such efforts would bolster peace and stability across the Middle East. He noted Iraq’s ongoing endeavours, in cooperation with regional and international partners, to bring an end to crises and promote sustainable development.
He further remarked that Iraq is currently enjoying improved security and stability following years of conflict and terrorism. He added that Iraq’s robust relations with neighbouring and international partners provide a solid foundation for enhanced regional cooperation and coordination.
The discussion also addressed the objectives of UNOC3, particularly with regard to environmental protection, ocean conservation, pollution reduction, and the sustainable management of water resources, all aimed at safeguarding the future for coming generations.
President Khachaturyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Iraq and expressed his desire to open new avenues for collaboration across various sectors, including close coordination on issues of shared concern.
