Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met on Sunday, 8 June 2025, with King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNIC) in Nice, France.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and senior officials from both countries.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Presidency, the two sides' discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding relations between Iraq and Jordan and exploring ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including trade and economic exchange, in a manner that serves the shared interests of both nations and their peoples.

The statement said that President Rashid underscored the importance of coordinated regional efforts to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and reduce pollution in oceans and water resources. He also emphasised the need to support global initiatives to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The leaders reviewed the key themes addressed during the Ocean Conference.

Regional developments were also discussed, according to the statement, with both sides stressing the importance of unified action to promote security and stability in the region.
