Iraqi President, US Chargé d’Affaires Discuss Regional Peace and Bilateral Progress

The President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received Elizabeth Trudeau, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq, at Baghdad Palace on Tuesday, 27 May 2025.
President Rashid reiterated Iraq’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across a range of sectors, in a way that serves the shared interests of both nations and their peoples. He remarked upon the continuing positive developments within Iraq at various levels, including the ongoing efforts to reinforce security and stability and to advance the country’s economy and investment environment.
He also underlined the importance of joint endeavours aimed at reducing regional tensions, resolving conflicts and wars, and reinforcing the principles of regional and international cooperation.
Ms. Trudeau, for her part, conveyed the United States’ interest in deepening cooperation on matters of mutual concern and reaffirmed Washington’s support for Iraq’s pursuit of security and stability. She commended Iraq’s regional role and its efforts to defuse tensions and address crises.
