On the occasion of International Nurses Day, Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed inaugurated the new building of the Kurdistan Health Workers Syndicate in Sulaymaniyah, paying tribute to the dedication and compassion of nurses across the country.

“Nurses are the heart of the health system. In the most difficult circumstances, they care for us with strength, resilience, and passion,” the First Lady stated in a message shared on her official social media accounts.

She added: “Today, I was pleased to inaugurate the new building of the Kurdistan Health Workers Syndicate – Sulaymaniyah Branch. This represents a significant step in supporting nurses and all healthcare professionals who serve our communities daily.”

The First Lady also extended her heartfelt gratitude to all Iraqi nurses: “I thank every Iraqi nurse for their service, respect, and dedication. I will always stand by you.”

*International Nurses Day is observed globally on 12 May, marking the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and recognising the invaluable contributions nurses make to society.
