On Sunday, 11 May 2025, the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal paid a visit to the veteran Kurdish leader and long-time friend of President Mam Jalal, Mohammed Haji Mahmoud, the leader of the Kurdistan Social Party, in Sulaymaniyah. The delegation praised his unwavering national stance and lifelong dedication to the Kurdish cause.

During the visit, the Secretariat Bureau presented Mahmoud with a bouquet as a symbol of respect and loyalty, on behalf of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Jalal Talabani and Comrade Qubad Talabani, extending wishes for his continued health and wellbeing.

The Bureau highlighted Mahmoud’s significant and enduring role in the Kurdish revolution and struggle, who as the leader of the Kurdistan Social Democratic Party, he has long stood as a prominent and influential figure, particularly during the recent phases of the Kurdish movement. His leadership and that of his fellow comrades were described as instrumental in revitalising the spirit of the Peshmerga.

They further emphasised that Mahmoud has consistently been recognised and respected for his principled national positions and for courageously conveying the truth and historical facts surrounding the legacy of the PUK and President Mam Jalal. They stressed that the PUK deeply values his loyalty and expressed their heartfelt appreciation.

In response, Mahmoud thanked the Secretariat Bureau for their visit and recognition. He reflected on the remarkable legacy of President Mam Jalal, describing him as an extraordinary leader whose name and legacy will forever remain etched in the history of the Kurdish people. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Kurdistanist path and to serving the people and their enduring national aspirations.
