First Lady Tours Sulaymaniyah Bazaar with Deputy Heads of the British Mission

Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed and Rosy Cace, the outgoing deputy head of the British Mission
Iraqi First Lady, Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, received Rosy Cave, outgoing Deputy Head of the British Mission to Iraq, and Robin Milton, newly appointed Deputy Head, during an official meeting held in Sulaymaniyah on Monday, 28 April 2025.
The meeting was also attended by Hataw Ibrahim Ahmed, supervisor of the Zamwa Gallery in Sulaymaniyah. The First Lady commended Ms Cave for her significant contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation across various sectors. She also extended her best wishes to Ms Cave for success in her future endeavours and welcomed Mr Milton, expressing hopes for a productive and successful tenure.
Following the meeting, First Lady Ahmed, together with the Deputy Heads, toured the Zamwa Gallery. During the visit, the supervisor of the Zamwa Gallery provided insights into the history of the gallery, which was originally the residence of the late politician and writer Ibrahim Ahmed.
She elaborated on the gallery’s collection, highlighting its array of photographs, writings, and historical artefacts that chronicle Ibrahim Ahmed’s intellectual legacy and his enduring struggle against oppressive regimes, while also explaining that the gallery stands as a tribute to his rich contributions to literature, political thought, and the fight for freedom.
In addition to the gallery tour, First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, accompanied by Ms Cave, visited several markets in downtown Sulaymaniyah, engaging with the local community and exploring the vibrant culture of the city.
