The inaugural session of the Bharat Summit 25, convened by the Progressive Alliance (PA), centred on advancing gender justice and fostering equality within progressive societies, a member of the Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Head of the party's Foreign Relations Department confirmed on Friday, 25 April 2025.

The Progressive Alliance sponsored Bharat Summit 25 kicked off in Hyderabad, India, on Friday, 25 April 2025. This two-day summit, which is themed "Delivering Global Justice," will bring together over 450 delegates from more than 100 countries, including representatives from nearly 100 progressive political parties, 40 to 50 ministers, and around 50 senators and members of parliament.

"The discussions underscored the pivotal role of women in shaping inclusive and equitable communities," Dara Khailany, a member of the Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Head of the party's Foreign Relations Department, who represented the PUK at the event, said on X.

"I have the honour heading PUK's delegation to the Bharat Summit in Hyderabad, India, the PA Solidarity conference of Delivering Global Justice," Dara Khailany, a member of the PUK Leadership Council and Head of the party's Foreign Relations Department, who represented the PUK at the event, said on X.

"At the regional network meeting, we discussed the latest developments in MENA region," he added.

Khailany noted that the event highlights reality of global setbacks in women's rights & gender equality. 

"The world must remember that Women's representation & participation is a reality & they are here to stay," he said.

The Bharat Summit 25 marks a significant step in the Progressive Alliance's ongoing efforts to champion gender justice, emphasising that the empowerment of women is integral to the realisation of just, inclusive, and sustainable societies.

The event is a part of the PA's continuous efforts to achieve gender equality by 2030., following the Gender Equality Action Plan.

The PA's Gender Equality Action Plan is a strategy addresses critical issues such as gender-based violence, economic insecurity, and underrepresentation in leadership roles. It advocates for strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing access to resources, and promoting inclusive leadership to ensure that women and gender minorities are fully integrated into political, economic, and social spheres .
