Oil prices rose on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, as investors moved to cover short positions following a decline in the previous session.

At 0421 GMT, Brent crude futures were up 36 cents, or 0.5%, at $66.62 per barrel. The U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude contract for May delivery, which expires on Tuesday, rose 65 cents, or 1%, to $63.73 per barrel.

The more actively traded WTI June contract climbed 43 cents, or 0.7%, to $62.84 per barrel.

Both crude benchmarks had fallen more than 2% on Monday, as progress in nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran eased concerns about potential supply disruptions.
