Deputy PM, Qubad Talabani.
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, issued a message on the occasion of Akitu, emphasising that the Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac communities are among the oldest in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the wider region.
Deputy PM’s message reads as follows:
On the occasion of the Babylonian-Assyrian New Year (Akitu), I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac brothers and sisters in Kurdistan, Iraq, and across the world. I wish them days filled with happiness, peace, and tranquillity.
The Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac communities are among the most ancient in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the region. Just as Kurdistan has long taken pride in its rich history of coexistence among all communities, it remains today a stronghold of peaceful coexistence and security for all its people.
